1. What are Guard Touring Platforms ?

A guard tour system or a guard patrol system is software designed to automate the process of securing a property or an event where Guards patrol locations and log their searches with the use of a wand or scanner which is then uploaded into the software system which records every event completed during a guards touring rounds of a site.

Patrols managed with a suitable guard tour system will allow a Client to have the confidence that the Security service provider is conducting structured routine patrols effectively in and around the company real estate in order to protect its assets.     There are various guard tour systems on the market either commercially available or developed in house by Security service providers.

3. What are the benefits of  Guard touring Platforms ?

Use of a Touring Platform provides for "One Source" of information that keeps the work of Guards and the Service provider "In Check".  It provides real time data on what has occurred, where and when.

One Source of Information

Touring software enables for full analysis of Guard patrols and operations providing in depth statistics and event information thus, helping to ensure Guard operations are as efficient as possible.

Touring software provides for full transparency of work being performed which permits both the Security service provider and their customer to collaborate on work outputs and keeping the Client fully informed on events, efficiency of work and costs.

Increased Transparency

4. Who should implement Guard Touring Platforms ?

In many cases a Guard Touring platform may be a requirement from the Client.  When conducting due diligence for a potential site it is imperative that the Client should be questioned on any such requirements.

A Guard Service provider will in most cases have their own proprietary software.  If not it is important to establish, if required, who will pay for the implementation of the software and the ongoing maintenance.

Who may use the Software ?

Security Director - Security Coordinator - Security Manager - Facility Manager

5. Do our Global partners have their own systems ?

Yes, our largest Global Service providers have their own systems and provide this software as part of their service operations.

2. How does the Guard operate the System to record events ?

When using a RFID tag, or touch button technology the Security guard will carry a wand that will make contact with a RFID tag or touch button to record the patrol date which is then downloaded onto the Recording system. To provide coverage for patrols RFID tags and touch buttons are fixed along the patrol route and swiped / read by the wand to register the visit by the Security guard. Supervisors have the ability to access the information from the Software system checking and ensuring that Security patrols are being carried out accordingly and conditions are being reported. QR Codes and NFC are also options that can be used to record transactions by the guard similar to the RFID tag operations.

The advancement of telecommunication technology has also positively impacted Security patrol management. Newer systems can operate with a mobile phone device and depending on the system have the capability of taking photographs, have email and SMS functions, panic alarms, instantaneous incident reporting and can read bar codes for monitoring. Some of these system programs have the capability of producing patrol statistics and reports, which is regarded as an aid to Security supervisors and managers.
