2. Global Security in Context
The business and Security environment in which CBRE operates is rapidly changing and evolving. This is characterized by four (4) key drivers that make this playbook and its comprehensive content of greater importance and relevance to CBRE:
Integration: Security is increasing as part of FM bids – not just ‘manned guarding’ but physical security in the fullest sense. Effective security is a function of FM including HSE and Business Continuity (BMC) as these Facilities services must include Security management in their portfolio of operations, and should be networked together to ensure full coverage.
Regulation: The Security industry is becoming more regulated – this will apply to FM companies that manage security. Additionally, Regulators demand that certain industries are better regulated – this is being felt by Security as well as businesses. Having and demonstrating effective Security is an increasing feature - our clients expect us to play our part.
ā
Convergence: ‘Security’ is converging with two business support areas: IT through increased use of networked and IP based systems and FM because physical security is increasingly a part of the FM function.
Globalization: FM contracts are increasingly global – GWS pursues global clients – therefore FM and Security is being delivered in multiple countries by client request where clients’ and GWS resources may be weaker and less experienced in Security.
