Social - Supplier Diversity

CBRE is committed to achieve $3B with Diverse Suppliers by 2025. To achieve this, CBRE has partnered with a number of Agencies to certify diverse suppliers.

The S in ESG touches on the interactions an organization has with the human world – such as owners, employees, communities where an organization operates, or any other participants across the value chain.

As the world’s largest commercial real estate services firm, we recognize the impact we have on our communities, clients, employees, and stakeholders – and why our pillars of corporate responsibility are key to providing industry leadership that grows our business in socially responsible ways.

Supplier diversity is a core international program that enables us to deliver on our purpose of improving economic and social impact and is recognized as one of the most active, extensive and progressive programs.

CBRE’s program embraces our corporate commitment to help mentor, refer, and integrate qualified and certified vendors into the provisioning of products and services for our customers.

The program's approach focuses on three primary components and are underpinned by technology, metrics, and training:

  • Outreach – where we proactively advocate with our partners, diversity councils and communities to engage diverse suppliers, And champion the supplier diversity value proposition
  • Opportunity – by requiring at least one diverse supplier in sourcing and work order opportunities
  • Development – where we strategically invest in mentorship, sponsorship and/or capacity building for high potential diverse suppliers

CBRE is committed to an innovative and successful diversity plan to meet our commitments to spend at least $3B by 2025 with Diverse Supplier and to support our Clients programs. We establish and administer programs on an account-basis in accordance with each client’s specific scope of services and unique requirements. We collaborate with clients to establish the right diversity spend targets based on their needs and goals. In general, we find a goal of 10-20% provides that right balance of promoting our diverse suppliers while at the same time delivering broader savings with our overall solution. Our approach includes:

  •  Working jointly with our client to develop a specific subcontracting plan, including participation goal setting
  •  Identifying minority- and woman-owned business enterprise resources
  • Qualifying and verifying status of minority- and woman-owned subcontractors
  • Actively encouraging qualified suppliers to bid for services, track participation and performance monthly
  •  Maintaining all necessary documents and records to support our goal

We aim to promote supplier diversity by:

  • Increasing the use of certified Diverse suppliers across CBRE and its Clients
  • Developing and providing CBRE staff and suppliers with sourcing and supplier training, playbooks, toolkits, and case studies
  • Establishing a global team

Other social considerations include:

  • Upskilling and supporting employees
  • Promoting community engagement
  • Increasing and retaining client satisfaction
  • Striving for ethical supply chains
  • Advocating for workforce equality and diversity, including amongst our suppliers
