Facilities managers are responsible for the waste management of commercial and industrial sites, and with so many variables to take into consideration, it can be difficult to identify waste generation sources and create a plan to reduce these sources.
- CBRE is committed to decreasing the amount of waste generated through its own operations and its clients’, and promotes the reduction, reuse, repair, recycle and recover hierarchy for waste. CBRE champions the sharing of best practices and innovation in the field of waste
TARGETED OUTCOMES
VISION
- In 2021, CBRE set a goal to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2040. This commitment encompasses GHG (Green House Gas) emissions from its own operations, the properties it manages for investors and occupiers, and its supply chain. All of CBRE’s sustainability efforts ladder up to this net-zero goal, including its 2035 science-based targets to reduce emissions and strategic initiatives on renewable energy and fleet electrification
- Nearly 40% of global carbon dioxide emissions come from the real estate sector. Of these emissions, approximately 70% are produced by building operations, while the remaining 30% comes from construction. Global and national climate goals demand sharp emissions reductions in both operations and construction, which can only be achieved through significant changes within the real estate sector (Forbes)
